Travelling to Betulia

This short trip took me to a little town located in the west side to the Yariguies national park. Let's discover those beautiful landscapes!

Betulia, Santander - Colombia

One of unique and unexpected experiences I've had took place in this trip. All began with a 1.5 hour ride from Bucaramanga to the beautiful town of Zapatoca, our first stop. Located in the middle of the mountains of Santander, at 1700 meters above the level of the sea, it's climate is just a dream, no hot no cold, just perfect.

We continued our trip with a 45 min ride to get to Betulia. Luckily the sky was absolute clear blue and the atmosphere was absolutely chill. Someone recommended us to go to this beautiful place named "traganubes" or the cloud-swallower if literal translated. The place where all the clouds in the world are produced. To get there, first we got to the main park.

Then we drove 15 minutes by an unpaved road and got to the entrance. Then, a 20 minutes hike was needed to get to this beautiful place. The images just talk by themselves.

The "traganubes" resulted to be a huge abyss with a waterfall in the middle of two mountains. The weather conditions and wind speed created in this specific location makes it perfect for clouds to move around all day long, that is something you want to see with you own eyes, no picture will explain this phenomena.
